Our goal is a four fold purpose; We'd like to teach American Sign Language, educate and advocate about deaf culture, discuss hearing loss issues and be supportive to those who live life with multiple diffabilities. We feel that we can accomplish these things through our various sign language art.
In the beginning, we were owners of Furbaby Haven doggie day care for the last 8 years, we started with Scavo Pet Sitting Services and a daily dog walking program in 2003. We took care of many furbabies in our neighborhood and business began to grow from there. After being closed due to the covid pandemic, and hurricane Ian, we hoped to reopen our doggie daycare by the fall season, that is when Terri got a severe foot injury. Finally on the mend now and learning to walk again, we still hope to reopen our doggie daycare someday.
Since the 1940's, our family has always dealt with hearing loss. It began with our Great Grandmother, and Grandmother. Terri is late deafened (since November 2001) with some visual issues from Muckle Wells Syndrome. Joe, became hard of hearing at age 12 and benefits a lot from a Phonak BTE (Behind The Ear) Bluetooth hearing aid. Mom got a cochlear implant in 2015 after she noticed her BTE hearing aid was no longer helping. We have a few relatives that are also hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. As the years passed, through social media, we learned that many people have their varying beliefs about how to cope with hearing loss and deafness. We have come to understand and respect each persons decision. We hope to share our knowledge and information through this website and our art.

What is true happiness? What hobby makes you happy? When was the last time you spent at least an hour for just yourself? How often do you laugh, relax, enjoy your hobby? Would learning sign language be a great hobby for you? It will certainly be a plus to your job resume.
Many moons ago, a family member of ours, who served in the United States Navy said
"In this life you need three things. Something to do, something to love, something to hope for." If you don't have any or just one of these, what can you do to accomplish it? Often times, laughter really is best medicine. The next time your pup or aging furry bestie does something funny, make sure you actually do take that moment to BOL, (Bark Out Loud) your phone and social media will always be around, your special furiend will not.

Do you agree that furbabies love most of us humans, unconditionally? if so, read on. For cat lovers, they know that there's nothing like the purr of their content furry bestie, napping next to them. Folks who have any kind of hearing loss can simply feel the purring. That natural constant rhythmic vibration gives a sense of calm and peace. For dog lovers, they look forward to arriving home and going for a walk, playing with a toy in the yard or going for rides to a park, beach or for ice cream. Even for those not so furry, all our beloved birds, hamsters, fish, gerbils, ferrets and pythons, they too, provide a source of love, care, responsibility and a sense of belonging in this crazy world. Domesticated pets have a way to comfort us like no medicine can. They help us to laugh by watching their comical antics, they get us up and moving to feed and play with them. They can join us in our daily tasks and help us take a break from the chaos of life. As a way to appreciate all family pets, we have created various works of art in their honor and their memories.

In 2003, Terri got a caption call from a neighbor to pet sit for her Australian Kelpie dog. A week later, a call to care for another neighbor's two cats. Before we knew it, we were caring for about 30 pet sitting clients on a rotating basis. After some eye surgeries, the name Scavo Pet Sitting Services later changed to Furbaby Haven Doggie Day Care. We are currently still closed due to Terri's foot injury but sharing our love for animals through our family photography & paintings.
